Hire fleet engineer - Bunbury


Anglo Welsh Waterway Holidays is one of the largest canal narrow-boat operators in the UK and we have a vacancy for a Hire Fleet Engineer at our Bunbury Boatyard, in Tarporley, Cheshire. Knowledge of all boat systems would be an advantage, the workload is varied and includes turnrounds, showrounds, call-outs and after hours breakdown cover (on rota). Interested? Job Specification  

•  Reporting - Base Manager

•  Functional Reporting - All directors/department heads.

•  Working Hours - 40 hours per week to include week-ends and Bank Holidays

•  Holidays - 20 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities - To look after and maintain the hire fleet to required standard

•  Salary - £14,000 + - depending upon experience

•  Specific Responsibilities - Assist in all aspects of the operation of an efficient and customer friendly hire fleet base, as directed by the Manager. To join call-out rota to supply a 24 hour emergency assistance to all customers. Undergo training in new skills and new products – consistent with changes in the hire fleet and changes in regulations. Advise Engineering Supervisor of new and replacement engineering stock requirements to maintain hire fleet and anticipate break-downs. Carry out maintenance schedule of servicing requirements. Ensure that boats are serviced, and interior fittings checked, to the highest standards on turn- round days. Ensure that “standing” boats are serviced and available for immediate hire. Ensure that “standing” boats have hulls blackened and paintwork “touched up”. Constantly maintain the base in a clean, tidy and safe conditionBe prepared to provide assistance to any of the bases in the company should the need arise
