...the cruise?
At Anglo Welsh, we’ve developed unique, flexible holiday options to meet most
requirements, and if there’s something we’ve missed or our options don’t quite fit,
call the Booking Team on 0117 304 1122 and have a chat…If they can, they’ll
organise the holiday around you – after all it’s your break!!
There’s no need to cruise eight hours a day, or complete a route with dozens of
locks each day – unless of course you want to!
Our Booking Team have a wealth of knowledge regarding our fleet and the routes you can cruise upon, and also
are always very happy to suggest some combinations based on what YOU want.
Holidays start on Fridays, Saturdays or Mondays, depending
upon the the boat and holiday that’s right for you.
We aim to have the boat ready for you for 3p.m.
on your day of departure – it may have only returned
from hire that day and will need to be cleaned and
have an engineering inspection before you can board
– and after you’ve loaded up and had your
Showround…You’re Underway!!
3-Night Weekend Breaks, 4-Night Midweek Breaks, Weekly, 10-Night and
Multi-Week Cruises… We’ve Got Them All!!! And if it’s not in the Brochure…Ask!!
Maiden Voyage
...who's driving?
Because narrowboating is an art rather than a science, it's very easy to pick up and once
you've mastered the basics, it doesn't take long to realise just how simple boating is!!
Handling a boat with a little bit of practice is easy. When you arrive, our own Instructors will
give you a full walkthrough of your boat, and then give you comprehensive instruction on
everyday narrowboating and a full Health & Safety briefing before you leave the base;
they ensure you are confident to set off on your holiday before waving you
"Bon Voyage". These 'Showrounds' are anywhere from twenty minutes to an
hour long - depending on your proficiency and
aptitude - but even veteran narrowboaters
need to complete the showround ...

... as every boat has it’s own
idiosyncrasies. And don’t be afraid to ask
questions of your Instructor, or ask them to
go over a point as many times as you
need…they’ll even accompany you a short
way if you feel it would be of a benefit…the
showround is designed to enhance YOUR enjoyment.
You’ll be asked to sign a ‘Handover Sheet’ before you set
off, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get all the
information you need.
Of course, if you do encounter a problem whilst out on
your cruise, our team are on hand at all times to offer assistance
over the phone or come out to you if the need arises.
This service is also available at night in emergencies, so you’ve got
support in your corner, 24 hours a day.
Buoyancy aids are available at all bases. We strongly recommend that
buoyancy aids are worn at all times by non-swimmers.
We also recommend buoyancy aids are worn by all passengers when cruising
on rivers

regulations.
The comprehensive
syllabus ensures that you
become a competent helmsman,
leaving you free to enjoy your
holiday relaxed and in safety.
One, two and three-day courses are
run and managed by TR
Boathandling’s Terry Robertson. Terry
