Midlands Circuit, Stourport, Black Country. |

Enjoying an idyllic country setting in rural
Worcestershire, Tardebigge offers a great choice of
cruises for both novice and experienced boaters.
Several great ‘Rings’ are accessible from the base – the
Stourport Ring is very popular and is approx 44hours
of cruising – as well as many ‘there and back’ options,
including Stratford Upon Avon (44 hours return),
Warwick (40 hours return), and Worcester (30 hours
return).
Central Birmingham and rural Lapworth are favourites
for Short Break cruises from the base…you can moor
in the heart of the “City of Canals” and enjoy the
cosmopolitan atmosphere of this vibrant city, teeming
with bars, restaurants and numerous attractions, or…
if ‘City Life’ is what you’re escaping from, then head to
Lapworth on the North Stafford Canal; a gorgeous rural
cruise with plenty of pubs serving great food to give you
a break from the galley!
For a one-week cruise, Stratford Upon Avon and back
is ideal for novices, as it takes away the pressure of
completing a ‘Ring’, and offers a charming mixture of
old style bridges, scenic locks, lift bridges and barrelroof
cottages. Whatever length of break you have time
for, be assured Tardebigge has some great options,
and where better to start your cruise than the “Heart of
England” |

A mere stone’s throw from Stratford Upon Avon,
our base at Wootton Wawen sits right in the heart of
Shakespeare country. Stratford is a leisurely 5 hour
cruise south of the base, and you can moor up in the
gardens next to Shakespeare’s Theatre, right in the
centre of town.
Cruise on southwards through the Cotswolds to
Evesham and Tewkesbury, or head north of the base
through the ‘Heart of England’ and on to the City of
Birmingham or glorious Warwick (the Fleur de Lys
pub at Lowensford is a great first stop on the way to
Warwick, with eight locks and only three hours cruising
from the base).
The Navigation Inn, next door neighbour to the base is a
very popular destination for cruisers last nights, chatting
about the relaxing break, and enjoying some good
wholesome hospitality. Wootton Wawen, the doorway to
“Shakespeare’s country”. |
