THE NEW RULE OF 6 – COVID-19 UPDATE

Following the new Government guidance on the ‘rule of 6’ which came into force on September 14 we have new restrictions on parties of 7 or more booked for September and October 2020.

We regretfully have to inform you that we will not be able to accept more than 6 people on any holiday or day boat booking to our bases in England unless all guests are members of the same household or within a support bubble.

For holidays to Wales, the ‘rule of 6’ applies, however children under the age of 12 are not included in this new restriction.

If you have more than 6 people on your booking, we will endeavour to contact you by telephone as soon as possible to discuss your options. If you wish to contact us please email on bookings@anglowelsh.co.uk or call us on 0117 3041122.

UPDATE 24/06/2020

Staycations in England have been given permission to resume on July 4 and you can stay in the same holiday home as people from one other household.

Our promise to you

We are planning some key changes to the way we operate to help keep everyone safe:

• Extra cleaning: we will use antiviral products to clean our boats thoroughly between each hire, and we will pay extra attention to door handles, taps, crockery, pans, cutlery, keys, guard rails and other metal surfaces. Our cleaning staff will wear masks, gloves and aprons, changed each time they clean a boat. Bed linen and towels will be laundered at high temperatures.

• New social distancing measures: we will be introducing new social distancing measures at our boat yards, including signage and staggered boat collection and return times to reduce the number of people on site at our boat yards at any one time.

• New handover procedures: a new handover video tutorial will be available online to help prepare customers to familiarise themselves with facilities on board. A physical handover of the boats will still take place with a member of staff. It will include instruction on how to steer and operate the boat. Our handover staff will wear masks and gloves.

There’s extra advice about visiting the canal network safely, including advice on social distancing and keeping your distance from moored boats where people may be living aboard, here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/safety-on-our-waterways/coronavirus

UPDATE 05/06/2020

Phone line update

Whilst we have been working hard to contact customers about their forthcoming holidays – in order to do this our phone lines were diverted to a voice mail message. We appreciate that it has been frustrating not being able to speak to us and we would like to thank you for your continued patience.

We’re pleased to announce that our Booking Office telephone number: 0117 3041122 will re-open from Monday 8th June 2020. The phone lines will be available Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm.

The lines will be manned by a small team, so if we are unable to answer your call straight away please leave a message with your name, telephone number and a short message and we will call you back.

UPDATE 13/05/2020

The Government has announced a road map of the next steps to exit lockdown, which has resulted in us deferring holidays up to 30th June 2020.

If you are due to visit us on or before 30th June 2020, we will contact you as soon as possible. We have a small team, working from home, working through bookings and we would like to thank our fantastic customers who have been so patient – it is a mammoth task.

We are working on the assumption that July holidays will be able to go ahead so would ask guests due to travel from July onwards to hold off contacting us at this time. If Government guidelines still prohibit holidays we will be in touch.

If you are currently due to make a final balance payment on holidays commencing from July onwards please continue to do so.

In the meantime please stay safe and follow the Government advice and we look forward to welcoming you aboard as soon as we can.

UPDATE 16/04/2020

With the likely event of further lock down, we have taken the decision to defer all Anglo Welsh holidays due to commence up to 21st May 2020.

Once again, please accept our sincerest apologies that we have needed to take this decision and we thank you all for your continued patience whilst we endeavour to contact all customers affected.

UPDATE 23/03/2020

We are sorry to announce that, in light of social distancing, the UK Government’s advice to complete essential travel only and the most recent advice to remain in your primary residence means we will not be able provide some breaks as previously planned.

The latest government advice is as follows:

“This guidance is for people planning to visit second homes or holiday premises during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays. People should remain in their primary residence. Not taking these steps puts additional pressure on communities and services that are already at risk.”

Taking into consideration the UK Government’s latest advice regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have taken the decision to defer all Anglo Welsh holidays from 27th March until 30th April 2020.

If you are due to visit us between the above dates, we will contact you as soon as possible via email/telephone. (Please ensure you are vigilant in checking Junk / Spam folders).

As always, the safety and health of our team and guests is our top priority and we have taken this difficult decision in support of the UK Government recommendations. We know this will be very disappointing for lots of our guests, and we assure you that this decision has not been taken lightly.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for this.

We will endeavour to contact you as soon as possible. We hope you’ll understand we need to prioritise guests with holidays soonest. It may take us a little bit longer than normal to get in touch with you and we do thank you for your patience during this time.

More Information

If your holiday is not affected by the above time period, please refrain from contacting us regarding your holiday in relation to COVID-19. We do advise you keep an eye on our website.

We understand this is upsetting and disappointing news for our guests, and we do extend our sincerest apologies.

However, the safety and well-being of both our guests and our team remain an important priority for us and this is not a decision we have taken lightly.

Again, please accept our sincerest apologies that we have needed to take this decision.

We will be in touch with you if your holiday is in the affected dates – we will be having to make a large number of calls during this time and we please ask and thank you for your understanding and patience.
