The narrowboat holiday experience

If narrowboat holidays conjure up images of leisurely hours spent gliding seamlessly past lush river banks, teeming with wild flowers and birdsong, enjoying boating camaraderie and pints in canalside pubs reminiscent of a bygone era, you won’t be disappointed. There is no better way to cast off your worries, silence your mobile phone and escape the day to day bustle than a truly peaceful cruise along the many miles of inland waterways on offer in England and Wales.

From novice to veteran in a few short hours

At Anglo Welsh, we’re keen to welcome first-timers to canal boat holidays and make it simple for novices to operate our canal boats. Our nationally accredited handover and tuition ensures you’re comfortable and feel totally in control before you set off on your boating holiday.

Your very own floating hotel

Your narrowboat becomes your floating hotel, giving you the chance to stay where you choose during your canal boat holiday – from vibrant city centres to remote rural backwaters. Most mooring sites are free, so you can choose to stay somewhere different every night. Moor up in the centre of top city destinations such as Bath, Birmingham, Oxford, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Chester; admire famous historic sites including the soaring majesty of the World Heritage Pontcysyllte Aqueduct or Warwick Castle; or enjoy world-class attractions such as Alton Towers in Staffordshire, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the Thermae Bath Spa.

Exercise your freedom to roam

Freedom is the trademark of any good canal barge holiday. The joy of cruising where you want, when you want, at a pace of your choosing, cannot be overstated in a world where so many things are fast and furiously paced. An Anglo Welsh canal boat holiday is a great way to see stunning parts of England and Wales that you would struggle to reach any other way.
