From Wootton Wawen you can cruise in a number of directions, heading south for beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon, which is just a leisurely short cruise away the next morning. Explore the Shakespeare scene. Rich in culture and history, this beautiful town, set on the banks of the River Avon, is one of the most popular destinations in the UK. Why not moor up in your ‘floating hotel room’ and take time out to steep yourself in all things Stratford.

From here you could buy a licence and lock down onto the River Avon, cruising further southwards through the countryside to Evesham and Tewkesbury.

Travel north from Wootton Wawen and you’ll be heading for Birmingham. Britain’s second city has fantastic shops and restaurants, and an amazing blend of old and new architecture that can only truly appreciated from the canal. The Symphony Hall, The National Indoor Arena, The Sealife Centre, The Jewellery Quarter, Chinatown …something for everyone.

Or keep it rural by heading onto The Grand Union Canal at Kingswood Junction. Cruise down to Warwick and its castle and take in the famous ‘Hatton Flight’ of locks for a real narrowboating treat.
